2014: {brave}

A new year begins, and I let out a sigh of relief, happy to say goodbye to a difficult 2013. I breathe in the freshness of a new page. A brand new diary and dream about what 2014 may hold for me. I speak a word over my new year - brave.

brave

bre…™v/
adjective
adjective: brave; comparative adjective: braver; superlative adjective: bravest
  1. 1.
ready to face and endure danger or pain; showing courage.
"she was very brave about the whole thing"
  2. verb
verb: brave; 3rd person present: braves; past tense: braved; past participle: braved; gerund or present participle: braving
    1. 1.
endure or face (unpleasant conditions or behaviour) without showing fear.
"he pulled on his coat ready to brave the elements"

In 2014 I will need to be brave:

  • to be the adult I want my sons to be
  • to risk being vulnerable and honest with others
  • to find authentic community
  • to draw, paint and write
  • to forgive those that have hurt me
  • to find a community of Believers to belong to
  • to ask the hard questions
  • to not worry about what others think of me
  • to continue to live each day the best I can with chronic illness
  • to make the hard decisions
  • to continue the journey to becoming my true self
  • to set healthy boundaries
  • to try new things
  • to thrive despite hardships
  • to practice self-love and self-care
  • to trust God

  1. What a great word! My word for the year is receive. I am always a doer, actually addicted to productivity, but I feel the Lord calling me more to receive this year. http://rest-for-the-weary.blogspot.com/2013/12/my-word-for-2014.html
