A Decadent Day for a Decade - how we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary

When our 10th wedding anniversary was approaching my husband and I were discussing, over the course of  a few weeks, how we would celebrate it. We didn't want the occasion to go by without doing something to mark a decade of a marriage. We discussed having a big party and inviting our family and friends. We discussed renewing our wedding vows in an intimate gathering. But what we decided on, was a day just about us - and I'm so glad that we did!

Mighty Prince Warrior offered to plan the whole day for us. This made it extra special for me. It was so exciting anticipating what fun awaited me. And ladies, if you want to drop hints to your man, let them read this post. He did good. He did real good in planning the whole day. In fact, both my husband and I agree that the day was as special, and as memorable as our wedding day.

So here's what we did.
Anticipating the surprises that awaited me!
First he surprised me with this as our ride for the day - Audi A5 convertible.

We enjoyed glorious weather with the top down, and then drove to Marina Mirage. Hmmm, I was curious what he had in store. I suspected something on the water when I received my invitation. I was then told that we were booked in to go para-sailing. At this point I reminded my husband that I was afraid of heights. He said, "I didn't know that." I still love him, it's OK. He just forgot.

I faced my fear and calmed my nerves. We were launched off the deck of a 300 h.p. 8.8metre speed boat. We were winched out 100 metres from the platform and para-sailed 55 metres above the water. Once I was up there, and got over the fact that we were really high up, I enjoyed myself. It was so beautiful and serene. The views were amazing. On saying that, it's not an experience I want to repeat. I'm happier with my feet planted firmly on the ground.

Where to next? Time to have some lunch at Broadbeach, as you do when you're driving an Audi A5 convertible! Lunch at Sage Restaurant  was sublime. The food was incredible.

My next activity was one I had dreamed of doing for along time. He had organised massages for us both at the same time, at Splash Day Spa, Surfers Paradise. (I told you he did an amazing job organising the day.)

Here we are waiting for our treatment room and masseurs.
After having a relaxing one hour massage together, we headed to Starbucks for a beverage.

I seriously didn't think that it could get much better, but it did. When driving out of  Surfers Paradise we were nearly involved in an accident at a red light. The driver in front of us was busy looking for something in his car and didn't realise that his car was about to collide with ours as his car reversed backwards. Yikes! It was close. Missed the Audi by centimetres.

Next we headed up the mountain to O'Reillys. We enjoyed the drive up the windy roads. It was so nice not to worry about the boys, school work or business. The day was all about us. We chatted like we didn't have a care in the world and enjoyed each others company as a couple.

We took a leisurely stroll through the trees on  the tree walk, hand in hand. We had no where to be or no time restrictions.

Next I changed out of my shorts and shirt into a little black dress. We dined in the restaurant to end a perfect day, celebrating us!

On the way home we had to avoid driving over this snake and almost hit a small kangaroo. What an adventure. This day was anything but ordinary.

The Decadent Day for Decade helped us reconnect again on a deeper level. Away from the business and children and responsibilities, we were able to remember why we got married in the first place. I felt so spoiled and special by the end of the day.

I am so blessed to have such an amazing husband. I marvel at the last 10 years. I look forward to the next decade in my marriage.

Still taking lessons from the King,

  8. wow your hubby did well, sounds like an beuatiful day togther!! :-)

My hubby and I had massages togther on our honeymoon as part of our accomodation package but the whole experience was very awkward for 2 people who only saw each other naked for the first time 2 days beforehand cause they covered us in mud stuff and then we had to shower together and we were all nervous, looking back it is quite funny, would love to try it again now that it's nearly 5 years on :-)
