I remember enjoying writing at school and I remember being good at it. But over the years, I neglected this gift that He had given me. Since starting to write again in 2008, my life has changed forever. I found healing through Him in my writing. I found community in Blog Land. I found a place where I could encourage others. It makes my heart sing when I get comments or emails about how my writing has encouraged others. It's now the reason I write.
A few months ago, over a span of 2 days, I had received an email from a magazine called 'Enhance' asking if they could use my post "I am Beautiful" in their magazine. And I had been asked to write an article on a new e-magazine being launched in December 2010, by the Iluvthoseshoes project called 'Indulge' (My article on 'why I blog' is to feature in Dec 2010 issue). I was so amazed at God. By being obedient to Him I had found inner healing, had been set free from depression, and now had the opportunity to encourage more people than I had ever dreamed possible through my writing.
To fathom just how amazing this really is, you need to know that 2 years ago I had been suffering depression for 3 years. I could have never imagined that in 2 years time at that point in my life, that I could manage my own family, let alone be published in 2 magazines. That's our God. He is in the restoration business. He rebuilt me (and continues to do so) so that I can help others. He always has others in mind when He does a work in your life.
If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." Martin Luther King Jr
When I first started writing, all I could do was crawl. Each day was a struggle. But I obeyed His whisper to me to write. Then I started to walk as I found healing through Him as I wrote. Next I was able to run, as I connected with others in Blog Land, and He continued to rebuild me. Now I soar on His wings. I fly, filling my blog with words of hope of the One who loves us more than anything and wants us whole - Jesus.Still taking lessons from the King,

I write articles on hubpages, snipsly, infobarrel, and more. My favorite writing is my blog. Strangely, you and I have picked the same other century lady in pink as our theme . Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's even better to see the hard copy or your beautiful piece of writing
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your published pieces! So glad I stumbled across your blog! Looks like we have quite a bit in common - the Lord nudged me to begin writing following a bout with anxiety/depression. All I can say, is He is SO faithful! God is good! I'd love your thoughts on my blog, Life Lessons. Looking forward to reading your upcoming posts! God bless! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Just a thought about depression. Even though I have been a specialist in that field I prefer natural therapy. Have you heard of SAMex6
ReplyDeletelook it up on the net...also taking B Stress vitamins, 2 magnesium at night and drinking at least 6 glasses of water per day.
We have millions of cells in our bodies. Those cells vitally require oxygen and water to work properly. There is a lot of science knowledge required to fully understand what I am telling you, but to make it short, the above would help. God Bless. CML
I love Enhance, can't wait to see you in print!
ReplyDeleteWell done on all your achievements for The King :)
Oh, Jo! I am so excited for you! It's simply amazing what He can do with a willing heart. I love to hear the testimony He is building in you day by day.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jo! You definitely have the gift of writing! Excited for you:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful affirmation that the Lord sent your way, I can see why you got published! I too have experienced the awe of going from the depths of depression to seeing the Lord completely turn my life around in the blessing of my 2-year-old son. Your I'm Beautiful post was so moving and a much needed seed to plant in a woman's heart.
ReplyDeleteHey Sweet Friend,
